Today marks 107 years since the passing of Fire Chief David Campbell. Portland Firefighters and community members gathered at the memorial on W Burnside this morning to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty. Additionally, four awards were given to current firefighters for various acts of heroism over the last year.

Following the memorial, Portland’s newest recruit firefighters and their training staff went to Chief Campbell’s grave site at Riverview Cemetery. They cleaned the site and paid their respects to Chief Campbell and all other fallen Portland firefighters.
